CTP plate imaging – photopolymer plates for flexographic printing
We organise CTP plate imaging on high-quality photopolymer plates for flexographic printing. The plate transfers the image from the file to the substrate, so its quality determines the sharpness of detail, colour reproduction and consistency of the print run. We make sure it is prepared precisely, from a file checked during DTP prepress.
What is CTP and why it matters
CTP (Computer-to-Plate) transfers the image from a digital file directly onto the printing plate, without film. In flexographic printing this means more faithful reproduction of fine elements, fewer steps where errors can occur, and better consistency across repeat print runs.
What you gain
- High precision – accurate reproduction of small text, lines and screens.
- Accurate reproduction – plates prepared for the chosen press and substrate.
- Fast turnaround – we organise imaging together with file preparation and printing, with no idle time between stages.
- One partner – DTP, plates and printing coordinated by one contact person.
Preparing files for plates
- Separate separations for each colour (CMYK and Pantone colours clearly labelled).
- Tonal gradients from at least 2–3% coverage – lower values may not reproduce in flexo.
- Minimum line thickness 0.15 mm and font size 4 pt (5 pt when reversed out).
- Die line and finishing as separate layers / spot colours.
- Where the printer offers it, we recommend flat top dot technology, which stabilises the halftone dot.

Frequently asked questions
How is CTP different from traditional film-based platemaking?
With CTP the image goes from the file directly onto the plate, without film. Fewer steps mean fewer chances for error, sharper detail and better consistency across repeat runs.
What plates do you use?
High-quality photopolymer plates for flexographic printing, chosen for the press and substrate of each job.
Can I order plates only, without printing?
Yes – we can organise plate imaging on its own, or combine it with DTP prepress and printing.
How long is a quote valid?
A price offer is valid for 14 days from the date it is sent, unless a different period is stated.
